Great shopping experience. Good choice when looking for vintage clothing and other oldie items.
Loads to see, touch and try. Wonderfully curated by the individuals who spent time on this. It has everything, and I mean everything. Record LPs, vintage clothes and fashion accessories, bags, tools, household items, decorative pieces, furniture, wigs!, The list keeps going on and on. Well worth a visit even if it's a bit out of the way. Expect to spend a couple of hours here if you're the type who like to take time to rummage through vintage finds for self and home. I've taken a few photos so check them out.
Lots of stalls however more 80s, 90s, Y2K trendy stuff rather than vintage and prices are quite high considering the fabrics from some items are polyester etc.
In terms of quality finds and variety, this is the best vintage shop on Brunswick St. my brother came out of the store with some fantastic jackets, but bear in mind the clothes here don’t come cheap! For example, some of the denim Levi’s and Wrangler jackets are more expensive than buying a new one from the offical store.
An uncomfortable visit. One of the women with curly hair was very hostile.
There was a visible copper stain on a pair of earrings. When I showed it to the other staff, they agreed with me and referred me to see that woman. (He's a very nice guy.)
The woman was rolling her eyes and saying things like "I can't see the stain" and "I don't see there's a problem," very impatiently telling me "You don't have to buy it if you don't want to."
The shop has a lot of goodies, and I would like to visit again, but the friendliness of the staff is not guaranteed.
I love this place so much and have bought numerous items when I lived in Melbourne a few years back. The staff are helpful too. Today I had a terrible experience with a European lady in her 30s/40s short hair. I asked about the top floor as it was closed and I wanted to return when it is open. I just asked her what kind of furniture they sell and how large the room was in relation to the room we were in. I was met with deliberately evasive answers like I don't know. You will have to come back. I don't know the square meter age. She repeated this a few times. I I intend to buy a lot of furniture as I am in an unfurnished appt. I wasn't asking difficult questions, only because I live quite far and wanted to know if it was worth my while. She seemed to take a lot of pride in giving me those answers. So i asked a young man who was her colleague who did answer my 3 questions politely. . When i left i turned around and noticed thst she was laughing at me with her colleague's? Not sure why there was unkindnesd.. Maybe it's because I am not white? I was very polite. I felt pretty humiliated.
I would come back in a heartbeat and spend around 3K but not now.
All you need is to treat people with respect. If any one who sells furniture upstairs would like to contact me I would be really interested but not sure I want to return.
I had the opposite experience at Retropolis in Preston and Waverley Bazaar earlier today. Very warm and welcoming
Not too bad for a trash and treasure place. Has a lot of antique clothing and old household items, but that's about it. Smaller then I expected. You can find the place up some stairs.
The selection is very good. But the prices is crazy high on many low quality garments and in general. I found worn shoes priced higher then the same pair new in the store.
